Looking for a job in crypto?

I recently had a conversation with someone looking for a community moderator or front end programmer position within my teams. While I do have positions open and need filling, I could not offer a role. Here is why and how the conversation started.

Prospect: I really need a job sir.

Me: Well I have jobs, just they don't pay in fiat. Only coins Glov and GGN.

Prospect: Can I convert those to btc?

Me: You can if exchanges they are listed on have buy orders, but I'll be honest, all crypto is down at the moment. So trying to collect crypto to dump and get some btc out of it is going to waste your time, than what your going to get out of it. Those days are gone unfortunately.

Prospect: Ohh sad,

But can you please look for a job for me which pays me in btc, Please sir.

Me: All the people I'm affiliated with, will not pay in btc unfortunately. We are all holding it, waiting for it's value to rise so we can reinvest in our projects in moving them forward. What skills do you have?

Prospect: I do marketing very well, I can DM invite people to servers, I can also do programming if that's required.

Me: What kind of programming? Marketing most of us do that pretty well. So that's not going to sell you.

Prospect: Just front end.

Me: Like what? Need examples. Also, for marketing you'll need to show proven track record and testimonials from some communities you've helped.

Prospect: Well,You were there in Kore projects server right? I was the main "inviter" in that server, but unfortunately they are kinda out of funds. So I had to quit.

Me: Like I mentioned, it's now hard to get a crypto community manager, marketer or programming job that's going to get you paid in btc.

Prospect: But, if you can pay me enough in other currencies, We can proceed sir. I was the main inviter over there at Kore. And yes I love them, they used to pay me enough.

Me: See, my people work with me. Not for me, we pool our resources to move the projects forward.

Those that do work for me, know to hold coins and use some to boost the community. There is no initial payment or any payment per se' other than the coins from our projects. When we list on an exchange we try to establish and stable the coin, not go all out and sell them off to regain any money we have put in. It's a bigger picture that we see.

Now this has made some of my team leave as everyone needs compensation for work. For me and those who have stayed, it's not about the money, it's about the project, getting the dream to fruition.

Building a business that with determination and effort will become something tangible where we can turn a profit, make products, sell services and live our crypto aspirations. Yet, for right now it's still in the building blocks of foundation. This is why I don't offer you a job.

Most of the projects I work, their costs are out of my pocket and I work 9 to 5, but do this as a passion and belief in the technology. Now while I know your efforts would be welcomed, I do not have the budget to compensate you. For that I apologize. I will see who may have some work for you out there as a mod or front end programmer, but they will ask for references and track records. Make sure you get those documented for presentation.

Prospect: That is absolutely very good and true.

Unfortunately, because of scams and false "influencers" we in this industry must be cautious. While this prospective employee may have been what we needed, because of the lack of track record and willingness to disclose what programming skills were offered, was flagged. The second flag was the sound of insecurity and needing money. Hey don't get me wrong we all need it, some more than others as we all enter those trying times.

Yet, we must be careful how we represent ourselves. I've learned the hard way, too insecure, your a risk. Too cocky, your threatening. Too uninterested, your not taken seriously.

So how do we get over this roadblock? I'm not sure, I'm still a work in progress, but I hope my integrity shows and my general concern for the community.

I present this not to mock or poke fun, but to inform of the changing aspect in the industry. Really guys, if you have employment that can help my solicitor DM me. I will forward the contact information.
